Week 27 - Working Towards Milestones

Milan has been busy working towards a few milestones.  Recently she finally figured out how to roll from her back to her belly.  Unfortunately, she isn't as excited as we are about this accomplishment.  She tends to become quite frustrated when it happens.  For several weeks now, Milan has been chewing on anything and everything, but so far no teeth have appeared.  Her gums seem to be quite swollen so we are expecting a tooth to show up any day!  She isn't sitting up on her own yet, but we practice often and just in the last two days I've noticed she appears to be a little more steady and sitting up on her own for a few moments before falling over.  I suspect in a few more weeks she will have this down too!

Milan continues to eat a little cereal every morning.  She seems to prefer the oatmeal to the rice.  In the evenings she has a vegetable for dinner.  So far she enjoys every vegetable I have offered her - carrots, sweet potatoes, peas and green beans.  Soon I will begin to offer fruit and I have no doubt she will love it too!

This is the 3rd time I have shown a video of Milan in her jumperoo, but she just LOVES it!  She has never been as enthusiastic about jumping as in recent days.

Week 26 - Trip to Idaho

This week Milan and I flew to Idaho to visit my family.  Milan met her Grandpa and her cousins Kevin and Jenna for the very first time.  Needless to say there was much love in the air for those 10 days.  It saddens me to know that Milan will not be able to see them again for a few months.  It was a very special visit...just one of many to come.  There isn't much to say, really, I think the pictures speak for themselves.  Enjoy!

Week 25 - Happy Half Birthday!

When you become a new Mom, one of the most common things you hear  is how it all goes by so fast.  From the moment she was born, I have made an effort to absorb as much as possible, to try to capture and store in my mind, every moment.  There is nothing else, nothing more than this.  I feel really sorry for those parents who are too distracted to feel these moments, or who are too caught up in other things and can't be present for their child.  Milan is 6 months old today (sigh)...it went by in the blink of an eye.

Week 24 - Happy Mother's Day!

Today was my very first Mother's Day and it was spent with the three of us going to the mall to do a little shopping.  Gone are the days when James and I could only bring Milan out for short periods of time before she would start to lose it.  Today we were out for nearly 6 hours and had no problems with her at all.

This week in school, Milan made her very first Mother's Day gift.

She also used to her foot to capture her little footprint for Mommy to keep forever.

I had a wonderful time spending my first Mother's Day with my husband and daughter.

Remember a few weeks ago, when we first introduced Milan to her jumperoo?  She wasn't able to do much in it other than sit.  Which leads me to:

Week 23 - First Day of School

This week Milan started daycare! It is a small group atmosphere run by two women, for children ranging in age from 5 months to 3 years. They are education focused (which is why we refer to it as school), so we know Milan will learn as she grows. Mommy was very nervous the first day, but as it turns out, Milan had a very good day. She took two, two hour naps and finished all of her bottles. She sat in a bouncy seat and an exersaucer and enjoyed watching the children play. Tomorrow will be Milan's second day, and although I feel the return of the knot in my stomach, knowing I will send my child to be cared for by someone other than myself, I realize it will only be two days each week and I know Milan will enjoy herself.
