Week 39 - Learning

These days Milan accomplishes something new nearly every day. This week alone Milan made the "dada" sound for the very first time, pulled herself up to her knees, waved "bye bye" (with our urging), AND finally discovered how to put a cheerio in her mouth. I've noticed she is beginning to know the meanings of certain words. For example, she seems to understand what the word bottle means.

Every night before I give her final bottle of the day, we read "Goodnight Moon" in the rocking chair. Recently, when reading the final two pages of the book, she makes a little panting noise like she KNOWS what is coming next...the bottle. Milan is also starting to exhibit stranger anxiety. It doesn't happen every time, but when it does, she wants NOTHING to do with anyone other than James and I. It kind of feels good to know that after all of these months she knows us and wants us, however, I really don't want my baby to feel anxiety of any kind.

Week 38 - Happy 9 Month Birthday

This week Milan turned 9 months old! I can hardly believe my baby is just 3 months away from celebrating  her first birthday.  We went for Milan's 9 month appt and her stats were:

Weight - 16.5 lbs (17th percentile)
Height - 27 inches (31st percentile)
Head - 17.24 inches (45th percentile)

The pediatrician was very happy with her progress and said she is growing beautifully!  He said to look for her to begin to pull up within the next month or two (yikes)!  He also suggested we begin to introduce finger foods.  So far Milan has enjoyed small pieces of banana and cheerios.

Week 36 - Family Day at the Park

Saturday was one of those RARE Philadelphia summer days in August - temperatures ranging in the high 70's to low 80's, a slight breeze, a clear blue sky, and LOW HUMIDITY! Thinking it was THE perfect day to spend outdoors, we decided to take Milan to the park. Accompanying us were Uncle Ken, Aunt Sherie, and Cousin Vincent.  After our fun in the sun, we all decided it would be nice to go out to dinner. The restaurant we chose was much nicer than the the family-friendly eating establishments we are accustomed to taking Milan, but the evening turned out great! We ended up being seated outside and Milan really enjoyed herself! She sat in the high chair and ate her dinner like a big girl. After she finished eating, she played and talked during the entire course of our meal. She didn't fuss once...we were so proud of her!
