Week 22 - A Foot Affair

Milan's love affair with her feet rages on!  It's a given, when placed upon her back, her feet immediately fly into the air, with her hands following closely behind.  This week, her hands finally made contact with her feet!  The new thing during her diaper changes is to grab her right foot and subtly sway back and forth.

We've given a new nickname to our child.  We now refer to her as the "shirt lifter" or "dress lifter".  If it is not a one piece outfit, the shirt or dress is pulled up and brought into her mouth or over her face.  This is a habit we desperately hope she abandons before becoming a teenager!

Week 21- Happy 5 Month Birthday

Today my precious baby girl turned 5 months.  It seems like it was only yesterday when we brought her home from the hospital.  We celebrated by doing a number of Milan's favorite things, one being a walk in the park (today's high was 75)!  Once we reached the highest point on the walking trail, we sat on a park bench and enjoyed the sounds and sights.  Not to mention, I'm completely out of shape and needed to catch my breath!

After returning from the park, Momma took Milan's socks off and she enjoyed seeing and trying to grab her feet (new favorite game).

We played with Milan's favorite toy, the crunchy book (it makes a crunchy sound)!

It was a pretty great 5 month birthday.  Although I was working from home today, I decided to put everything aside until after Milan's bedtime.  After all, you only turn 5 months once in your lifetime!  Milan and I enjoyed the lovely spring weather and more importantly, enjoyed some quality time with each other.

Week 20 - Rainforest Jumperoo

For Milan's 5 month EARLY birthday present, we bought her a Rainforest Jumperoo.  Before deciding to buy it for her, we had heard only rave reviews about the Jumperoo.  The babies love it, they spend 30-45 minutes at a time TOTALLY entertained by it, it makes them laugh and giggle, etc.  Let me tell you, James and I were SO excited to buy one for Milan.  We fantasized about the rewarding giggles and coos we would receive once she sat in it...  The good news is that unlike everything else we have ever bought for her, Milan does NOT hate it!  We are still waiting for all of those promised coos and giggles, but she does seem a bit amused by it.  We've even seen a few SMILES!  These are her usual expressions:

Hmmm...this looks interesting

I think that Monkey is kind of funny...

The parrot is funny too!

You know, this might not be such a bad place to hang out from time to time

Yes, I think I'm definitely liking this thing my goofy parents brought home!

Ah--CHANGES...So fun, yet so bittersweet.  She's so big, so feisty, and so CUTE...And while I miss the teeny, snuggly, brand-new version of Milan, this version is ridiculously fabulous!

For GRANDMA and GRANDPA - Thank you so much for my sweater and matching hat.  I LOVE it!

I picked up a new TOY for Milan this week.  It's called a sweet pea which I figured would be perfect since she is MY cuddly little sweet pea.  The little thing is so cute, I just had to post a picture.

This week we enjoyed a few warm spring days.  Milan really enjoyed the outdoors and and seeing all the sights it had to offer.  She was especially interested in the trees and the sky.

And now a final word from the STAR of this blog:

Week 19 - Raspberries Cereal and Friends

Once again, Milan had a week of many firsts. One of the most exciting discoveries (in her opinion) was learning to make raspberries (and yes you are hearing additional sound effects)!

Another exciting aspect to the week was the introduction of rice cereal!  This week I fed her a tablespoon of cereal once a day, every other day.  We will bump it up to every day next week.

At first she wasn't sure what her Momma was trying to put into her mouth, but after just a few minutes, she began to get the hang of it.

Unfortunately, the next cereal experience did not go quite as well...

Towards the end of our little one's busy week, Milan had her very first play date!  Lila, a very happy and outgoing baby born two days after Milan, spent the afternoon with us.  Everyone had a good time...Milan wasn't quite sure what to think.

Don't touch me!

I'm really not sure about this...

Ok Dad, I've had ENOUGH!

All in all, it was a very busy week, but we made sure we had plenty of down time to enjoy our baby girl.

My new favorite thing to do...eat my shirt!

Spending time with Daddy
