Week 34 - Houston...we have a tooth!

This week Milan got her first tooth! For weeks now, I have prepared for this momentous occasion, buying teething tablets, Tylenol, Orajel, and tons of teething toys. I was prepared for the crying and the fussing that undoubtedly would occur. I was ready to have my sleep interrupted to care for my sleepless, irritable, teething baby. So imagine my surprise when giving Milan her bath, I did my daily sweep of her gums...and found a little tooth poking through! Even though I had been expecting it, it still caught me off guard....with absolutely no fanfare, not even a little whimper, Milan's tooth made a very quiet entrance into the world. I would love to show you a picture of it, but she won't open her mouth long enough for us to take a peek, let alone snap a quick picture!

Milan's first time sitting in grass

She is SO close to crawling - she's spending a lot of time swaying on all fours.

Our baby will be crawling very soon.....

And she did it again.....

This is the video I was unable to upload last week.

Week 33 - Beating the Summer Heat

So far, this summer has been very warm and humid.  Not the kind of weather a baby and her Mommy want to hang out in, but in recent weeks, Milan and I have started going outdoors in the early morning hours before it begins to feel too uncomfortable.  Sometime during the hours of 6:30 and 8 a.m., you will find us outside -  playing on the front porch in her little exersaucer, enjoying an early morning photo shoot, and/or going to the local park for a walk.  The morning walks are really nice, other than a handful of people walking their dogs, we have the park to ourselves.  We used to just travel along the walking trail, but thanks to Marty and Meredith, I now know my little baby loves to swing.  So after we have walked around the park once or twice, we stop by the playground and swing.

Week 32 - Sleep Overs, Hair Clips and My Daddy the Rock Star!

Hi everyone, this is Milan!  I wanted to tell you about the really neat weekend I had.  Mommy and Daddy went to Oklahoma so my Daddy could play in the rock festival called Rocklahoma.  I wanted to go, but Mommy said I was too little and instead found a really neat place for me to go.  I stayed with our friends Marty, Meredith, and Ellie Molloy.  I had so much fun, I nearly forgot that my Mommy and Daddy were away for the first time since I was born.  Ellie and I went to a playground where I played on a baby swing for the very first time.  I loved it!!!  My Mommy never put me on a swing before and I hope she does really soon.  On Saturday Meredith left to visit some friends so Uncle Kevin came over to help Marty watch Ellie and me.  It was a fun weekend and I loved having an older sister.  I was really happy when Mommy came home although it was a little annoying because she wouldn't stop kissing me.  I hope one day Mommy and Daddy will take me to Rocklahoma, but Daddy says the only place I'm going is a school for nuns in Antartica.

These are pictures of my Daddy performing with his band, Mariah, at Rocklahoma.

Last week Mommy said I finally had enough hair and ordered my very first hair accessories!  So far I haven't figured out how to pull them out of my hair which makes Mommy very happy.  She keeps telling me how adorable I look.

Mommy thinks I'm close to having a tooth break through because I'm drooling and chewing on my fingers a lot.  Watch how well I'm sitting up, I've been practicing!  Don't you love my new hair clip?  This one is my favorite.

Week 31 - Changes

I can't believe how quickly my little baby is changing.  She is now CONSTANTLY reaching for things.  She spends a lot of time on her tummy - it seems she is starting to prefer it to her back (I would never have guessed this would happen)!  I expect any day now, she will figure out how to move around on her tummy, and I give her a month before she figures out how to crawl.  Currently she is able to move around by rolling.  She is still unsteady when sitting up on her own, but is improving daily.  For those who are wondering, we are still waiting on teeth.  I'm in no hurry as I can't get enough of her toothless little grin.  I'm starting to break out into a sweat during diaper changes as Milan is determined to roll over during each and every one.  If she isn't trying to roll over, she is determined to put a diaper (clean or dirty) into her mouth.  As you can see from the next three pictures, she is still giving me a run for my money when it comes to taking her photo.  It took me nearly an hour before I was able to capture a few with her looking at me!

I was able to capture Milan's giggle.  Of course it only happened once....but I got it!

This is how Milan now spends her time playing on the floor.  Wasn't it only a month ago when she stayed (and played) on her back!!!!

Milan's new game of shaking her head "no" while eating.  I doubt very much she is actually shaking her head no, but it is cute nonetheless!
